As we brace for another slew of freezing cold days here in Wisconsin, it comforts me to think that the Spring Equinox is less than a month away (March 20th). That means its time to start thinking about a cleanse for Spring! Sounds refreshing, doesn't it?
Why an Ayurvedic cleanse? The Ayurvedic system of detoxification called Panchakarma can be gentle yet effective. I like to think of the Panchakarma program I've developed over the years as "Panchakarma Light" as I've guided busy professionals and health-conscious moms who need something better suited to their active schedules. It's (relatively) short, sweet, and a great intro to the Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle. Plus, there are no gimmicks, expensive trendy foods or supplements to buy. It's mostly deliciously simple plant-based whole foods.

Oh, and then there's ghee. Ghee is the super food of the Ayurvedic diet and used specifically in cleansing. Why ghee and not just butter? Ghee aids digestion, detoxification, nutrient absorption, fat metabolism, and just feeds the soul in a way no other fat can. It's also lighter since the milk solids are removed and tastes out of this world if you make your own. Don't worry if you're vegan. There are options for you.
An Ayurvedic cleanse helps to reset and strengthen digestion so you digest food and absorb and assimilate nutrients better. It can reinvigorate the whole body, heal the gut, detox the mind and emotions, help shed winter weight, boost immunity, improve energy and sleep, manage allergies... I could go on. It can be particularly helpful in women's reproductive health issues if timed properly.
I've been leading clients on personalized cleanses for years now and I've learned what works best for different lifestyles and budgets. It's most effective when it is personalized to meet your own health and wellness goals, which is also what sets an Ayurvedic cleanse apart. Ayurveda believes you are a unique person and your detox program should be, too.
